IN FLIGHT (Poem 17)

Erle Frayne Argonza y Delago

Rice
Eastern viands
Sugar cane wine
Are served before me
As foods
My stomach gesticulate
By habituation
Prelude to flight.

I am well fed
Thanks to you Motherly providers
I starve not
Thanks to you cultivators of earth
I seek food never in vain.

To the globe’s underfed:
Woe not!
Should you move
In search
Of bounty
You shall reap it
Aplenty.

There are in your midst
Benign men and women
Who will pay your nourishing efforts
With promised abundance:
Your hopeful promise no less
Embedded in all hearts worldwide.

For what else is Kosmos other than
A pregnant fabricator of bountiness.
