IN FLIGHT (Poem 16)

Erle Frayne Argonza y Delago

I’ve chewed the savory news
That there beyond my cradle land
Are cities vastly large
Athenian and all
Where illustrious minds have stood the Earth
To reshape the world.
They are

Inventing the Future!
Inventing!—

Is this not a noblest act
Of making sense of borrowed time?
That of living on earth?

O! How I desire to be among them
Such blessed coteries of minds.

Let me fly to your sacred bowls
Endeared path-builders of the morrows.
