Erle Frayne Argonza y Delago
They came again as before to toss me querries
Interviewer and camera men to spice
Their grins as huge as the moon’s smiles
From big television network nesteld
By program named Kapuso to boot
Accompanied by quaffs of pineapple juice
My ears I lent to them sharp as blade
They then asked me to build thoughts
In shape to explicate Brasilia’s invasion
Of Manila’s culture spaces—
Fashion, music, food, endorsers
For which I replied:
We are sponges all to porous
Retaining what we are as we absorb
Brasilia’s symbol constructs and aesthetics
For we relish them in sublime appreciation
This was how we Pinoys came to be
Soaring high like the Philippine eagle
Filled with values and images borrowed
Yet fulfilled and towering as our spirit
So shall we be yet in the morrows
